Research: E-cigarettes containing nicotine are more effective than nicotine patches for quit smoking November 4,2020.

October 16 news, on Wednesday, a new foreign study found that steam products containing nicotine are more effective than patches or chewing gum in helping people quit smoking, and safer than cigarettes, although more is needed to prove its potential long-term impact.

"There is now evidence that, compared with nicotine gum or patches, e-cigarettes containing nicotine are likely to increase the chances of successful smoking cessation." Hartmann Boyce) said.

This research was conducted by Cochrane, an organization that brings together the best scientific research to help evaluate the relative effectiveness of health interventions.

Electronic cigarettes have been around for about ten years, and in recent years, its penetration rate has increased significantly. Unlike chewing gum and patches, they mimic smoking because they are handheld and generate steam.

A 2016 Cochrane study also found that compared with nicotine patches or chewing gum, e-cigarettes are more helpful for smokers to quit smoking, but much less evidence was available at the time.

Last year, the outbreak of lung damage and deaths related to e-cigarettes in the United States increased people's attention to smoking and e-cigarettes, and prompted a ban on certain types of products.

But this outbreak is not related to vapors containing nicotine, because more and more evidence suggests that the cutting agent vitamin E acetate used in cannabis e-cigarettes may be the culprit.
