Who is chemically synthesizing nicotine?

May 23,2019.

Next Generation Labs LLC (Santiago, California, USA) is one of the few companies to produce smokeless nicotine (TFN). Under the leadership of Ron Tully, the company is now working to synthesize nicotine "for the mass production of pure (R, S)-nicotine and its use in steam treatment for tobacco cessation and/or recreational purposes."
The next-generation lab also marks its synthetic nicotine trademark because pharmaceutical companies are interested in the main product nicotine, but are also interested in its analogues (for the treatment of Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) ) or brain diseases such as epilepsy).
In an interview with Vape Radio, Ron Tully explained what TFN (synthetic-derived nicotine) is and how it is seen as a great alternative to traditional nicotine products. Its price is discounted, starting at $125,000 per liter, but now it nets down to $5,000 per liter, competing with natural S-nicotine (about $4,000 per liter, Sigma-Aldrich). According to the tobacco industry veteran, it has the advantages of odorless, odorless and high purity compared with natural extracts.
production of pure (R, S)-nicotine and its use in steam treatment for tobacco cessation and/or recreational purposes."
Pure as a new selling point

Only a few brands of steam e-cigarette liquids, such as Coastline, CRFT Laboratories and KVASS (14 in total) use smokeless nicotine, and most markets use tobacco-derived nicotine. According to the founder, tobacco extracts still have a plant odor, which has led to manufacturers of e-cigarette liquids having to use sweeteners and aggressive flavors to mask odors.

According to the next generation of laboratories, TFN nicotine's three selling points:
1. Lack of many impurities contained in tobacco-derived nicotine,
2, almost colorless and tasteless,

3. Significantly improve the flavor of tobacco oil while providing the same biological effects as tobacco-derived nicotine.

The latest technology in the synthesis of nicotine claims that kerosene is commonly used as a solvent for the extraction of nicotine from tobacco, but purification does not allow complete cleaning of the extract. It writes that "many of these pollutants are harmful to the human body, many have been shown to be carcinogenic and have increased the addictiveity of 'nicotine'." The synthetic manufacturing scheme is a multi-step involving the reaction of ethyl nicotinate as the main chain. A synthetic method by which various atoms are added by using a specific reaction of a different compound having low toxicity or toxicity.
It is unclear whether the FDA has jurisdiction over tobacco-free or synthetic nicotine products. The FDA replied that it will study these products on a case-by-case basis.
